Brikama PIU, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, intercepted twenty-nine (29) individuals suspected of preparing for an irregular migration journey in the Jalambang forest, West Coast Region.
The operation followed credible intelligence on suspected illegal “backway” movements. The group, comprising foreign nationals and a few Gambians, including two females, was apprehended without incident.
They are taken to the PIU Brikama base and will subsequently be handed over to the Immigration Department for further processing.
The Gambia Police Force continues to intensify operations against irregular migration and urges the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or call 9968885.
