Police in Bansang continue to investigate the suspected murder reported earlier today in Wellingara Demba Village, Central River Region South.
Following ongoing investigations, Police have confirmed that the incident occurred at Wellingara Demba, an adjoining village to Galleh Manda, and not at Galleh Manda as initially reported.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim, Abdoulie Jobe, a 43-year-old shopkeeper, sustained fatal stab injuries following an altercation with another individual from the same community.
Investigators have processed the crime scene and continue to pursue all relevant lines of inquiry.
The Gambia Police Force urges members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to resolve disputes through lawful means. Anyone found to have violated the law will be investigated and dealt with in accordance with due process.
