Missing migrant boat:Gambia Government says misinformation could hamper ongoing efforts and cause further distress.

The Government of The Gambia has expressed deep concern over reports of a missing vessel believed to have departed from the North Bank Region on 17 November 2025 with Gambian citizens on board.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Government of The Gambia said relevant authorities, working with partner agencies, are actively verifying the reports and establishing the facts surrounding the incident.

“The current priority is to determine the vessel’s location and the welfare of those on board,” the statement said.

The government acknowledged the anxiety of affected families and assured the public that all available resources are being deployed to address the situation.

It also urged the public and the media to rely on official information and avoid unverified speculation, warning that misinformation could hamper ongoing efforts and cause further distress.

The government said it remains committed to transparency and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
