Ex-UDP campaign chiefs are at each other’s throats, Karafa Sonko has labeled Momodou Sabally the country’s ultimate political gold digger.
Both men once managed campaigns for the United Democratic Party but have since left. Sabally jumped ship first, joining President Adama Barrow. Recently, Sonko ditched his old party to follow Talib Bensouda after 29 years.
Sabally, who has openly criticised Bensouda, accused Sonko and others in the UDP of scheming to oust Ousainou Darboe and elevate Bensouda.
But Sonko fought back hard. Speaking to Star TV, he dismissed the allegations of being an opportunist.
“If I were after money, I would have joined the President I helped elect in 2016. But I returned to the struggle. I am not a gold digger like Sabally,” Sonko said.
He added: “Sabally hates seeing others succeed. He criticises anyone he sees as a threat.”
Mr Sabally is yet to respond to Karafa Sonko latest attacks.
