GID Intercepts 107 Migrants in Coordinated Two-Day Operations

 

The Gambia Immigration Department, through its Border Patrol Unit, has intercepted a total of 107 would-be migrants across five communities within two days, in a series of coordinated operations.

On Friday, 17th April 2026, officers stationed at Tanji intercepted 94 migrants and two suspected agents in the coastal communities of Gunjur, Tujereng, and Sinchang Village.

The group included nationals from several countries:

6 Gambians

51 Senegalese

16 Guineans

11 Malians

6 Sudanese

2 Somalians

1 Ivorian

1 Yemeni

On the same day, an additional eight Guinean nationals were intercepted along the Sami Road in the North Bank Region.

In a separate operation on Thursday, 16th April 2026, the NBR Border Patrol Unit also intercepted five migrants at Mayamba Village.
