Vision 2045: Building a Better Gambia through Strong Institutions, Employment, and Investment”

Looking towards the future, Muhammad Al Amin, leader of WAREF, is calling for a new vision for Gambia in 2045. This vision represents an opportunity for the current generation to strengthen institutions, increase economic opportunities, and create a brighter future for the youth and generations to come.
In a recent press conference, Mr Bah spoke about the significance of Vision 2045 as not just a long-term development plan, but a commitment to hope, progress, national unity, and sustainable development. He urged the country to take advantage of this opportunity to improve justice, modernize infrastructure, invest in education and healthcare, and boost the economy.
Recognizing that change is in the hands of the current generation, Mr Bah encouraged citizens, the private sector, and other stakeholders to join in the development process. He stressed the importance of shared responsibility, as the government alone cannot provide all the necessary opportunities for young people.
Acknowledging the need for job creation and development in various sectors, Mr Bah highlighted the potential for agriculture, infrastructure, energy, technology, and other industries to generate employment. He also mentioned several ongoing projects with the capacity to create thousands of jobs, such as a major project with the potential for 90,000 jobs and a scientific city that can accommodate tens of thousands of employees. Additionally, initiatives like waste-to-energy projects are expected to contribute to the country’s economic transformation.
A key focus of this vision is on the youth and their skills. Mr Bah emphasized the importance of providing young people with opportunities to learn, develop skills, participate in the economy, and become innovators and entrepreneurs. He believes that the future of the country depends on empowering the youth and creating an environment where they can contribute and thrive.
