Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has reaffirmed that the new University of The Gambia (UTG) Faraba Banta Campus will be inaugurated by President Adama Barrow in December, following an inspection of construction progress on Saturday.
During a visit to Lot 2 of the project which includes the Faculty of Law, the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and a seven storey Chancery building, the minister praised the quality of work but urged contractors to speed up completion. He instructed the introduction of day and night shifts to meet the December 27 deadline, calling the date “non negotiable.”
The minister stressed that the project must meet both time and quality standards, including the completion of the campus perimeter fence. Once finished, the new facilities will consolidate all UTG schools and central administration currently based in and around Kanifing, forming a unified, modern academic hub at Faraba Banta by early next year.
