UDP’s Alagie SM Jobarteh backslides after rumours of his allegiance to Bensouda

Alagie SM Jobarteh has made a dramatic return to his former home, the United Democratic Party (UDP), just weeks after quitting to join former ally Talib Bensouda.

Jobarteh said he realized he had made a “gross error” after seeing what he described as “scavengers” surrounding Mr. Bensouda.

“Those kinds of people are the ones giving politics a bad image. They are the same people who have caused the failures of Mama Kandeh, Essa Faal, and President Barrow in politics,” he said.

He also issued a sharp warning to Talib, urging him to be careful about the company he keeps if he wants to succeed in politics.

According to Jobarteh, such associates have derailed the careers of many promising politicians.

Mr. Jobarteh is the first person to rejoin the UDP after leaving for Talib’s movement.

However, he accused some members of Talib’s camp of trying to “hijack the show,” despite the wave of resignations in the West Coast Region that Jobarteh claims he orchestrated from his home.
