Trump Expands US Travel Restrictions to 39 Countries, Including The Gambia

President Donald Trump has signed a new proclamation expanding US travel restrictions to 39 countries, up from 19, newly affecting several West African states, including The Gambia and its neighbours Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

The White House said the latest expansion introduces full bans for some countries and partial restrictions for others, with The Gambia placed under partial restrictions, a move likely to have immediate implications for Gambian families, students and migrants with close social and economic ties across the subregion and to the United States.
