The National Assembly Select Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development embarked on a nationwide oversight tour of Seccos across the country.
The oversight aimed at giving lawmakers firsthand information on the implementation of the resolution made by Parliament on the sale of groundnuts.
The members of the committee visited Seccos to directly engage with groundnut farmers, staff, personnel from the National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation (NFSPMC), and stakeholders involved in the buying and transportation processes.
During the visit, the committee assessed the transparency and effectiveness of the process of the groundnut purchase and listened to the plights of farmers.
The findings gathered from the oversight visit will be presented to the plenary for further scrutiny and adoption.
