The Honorable Minister of Interior Inaugurates the state-of-the-art Immigration Border Post in Giboro, Kerr Ali and Amdalia

‘’Enhancing Border Management Capacities of The Government of the Gambia to promote Stability and Security ‘’,on Monday the 26th of January ,2026 ,the Ministry of Interior in partnership with the International Organization for Migration and the government of Japan inaugurated the state-of-the-art immigration border post in Giboro ,Kerr Ali and Amdalia , in a ceremony that underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening border security and enhancing effective migration management .

The event held at Giboro in the West Coast Region, drew senior government officials, members from the International Organization for Migration, senior officials from the Government of Japan, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents of the border community.

In his remark, the Honorable Minister noted that the establishment of the Border Management Posts aligns with the government’s broader reforms in border governance, emphazing the need to combat trans-border crimes while supporting lawful trade and travel.

He stressed that well-managed borders are essential to national development and regional stability.

The newly posts is equipped with modern operational facilities to support the activities of Immigration, Customs and other security agencies stationed at the border.

The Minister concluded by charging the officers deployed to the posts to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, diligence and respect for human rights.

The Honorable Minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue investing in modern border infrastructure and community engagement as part of a comprehensive strategy to secure the nation’s borders.
