The Gambia Police Force engages youths at peace ambassadors training camp

 

The Gambia Police Force on Thursday, 24th April 2025, engaged participants at a Youth Peace Training Camp held at Abuko Lower Basic School, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen police-community relations and empower young people as peace ambassadors.

Representing the Head of Community Policing, Superintendent Mariama Jallow, were Cadet Inspector Sainabou Manjang (Deputy PRO), Detective Sergeant Muhammed Badjie, and Corporal Foday Nyassi, who participated in the session organized by Peace Ambassadors – The Gambia.

The camp forms part of a broader youth empowerment and recruitment initiative aimed at nurturing a new generation of peace advocates through community policing. Discussions focused on the role of youths in crime prevention, the value of timely information sharing with the police, and the importance of community-based security partnerships.

In her presentation, Cadet Inspector Manjang highlighted the role of the Police Public Relations Office, emphasizing its responsibility in keeping the public informed and engaged on matters relating to internal security and public safety.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, during which participants offered ideas and recommendations for improving police-community collaboration.

The Gambia Police Force reaffirms its commitment to engaging with youth and community-based organizations in the collective pursuit of peace and national security.
