The Senegambia Police Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the death of a Congolese national, Kola Joseph Annicet, alias Ras Kaya, who was found motionless in Kerr Sering on Monday, August 10, 2026.
According to the Gambia Police Force, a preliminary examination of the body found no visible stab wounds or other obvious external injuries.
The body has been taken to the mortuary pending a possible post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police said investigations also established that Annicet had reported to Senegambia Police Station on July 15, saying he was unwell.
He was subsequently escorted to Kanifing General Hospital, where he received medical treatment.
The police said claims circulating that Annicet was “killed and dumped” remain unsubstantiated, as the cause of death has not yet been medically established.
The Gambia Police Force has urged media practitioners and members of the public to verify information with the relevant authorities before publishing, particularly in cases involving ongoing investigations.
