NAWEC Installs First Electric Pole in Jarra Barrow Kunda: Residents Express Joy

Today marked a significant milestone for the community of Jarra Barrow Kunda Suwareh Kunda as the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) installed its first electric pole in the area. The long-awaited development was met with great enthusiasm from the residents, who eagerly anticipated access to reliable electricity.

Speaking to New Global Media, Lamin Cham, a native of Barrow Kunda, expressed the overwhelming joy of the community. “We are very happy to finally see this happen. This is something we have been waiting for, and now it has become a reality. Having access to electricity will greatly improve our lives,” he stated.
Residents believe that the installation of the electric pole will bring new opportunities for development, including better living conditions, economic growth, and enhanced services. The move is expected to be a key turning point for the community as they look forward to the full electrification of their area.
NAWEC’s initiative in extending electricity to rural communities is part of its broader agenda to improve infrastructure and energy access across The Gambia, which is hoped to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas.
