The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Men’s Division Two League kicked off Wednesday with 11 goals recorded across five venues.

Menmar Banjul United, under new management, began their campaign with a 2-0 win over Wagadu FC at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

At the Serekunda East Mini Stadium, Serekunda United beat newcomers AJ Soccer FC 2-1. AJ Soccer secured promotion after a successful Third Division season in the Lower River Region and subsequent qualification play-offs.

In Brikama, Baalor Sarr FC defeated Sibanor United 2-0 in a West Coast Region derby. The two sides previously met in the regional Third Division final, where Baalor Sarr also emerged winners to earn promotion last season. Sibanor returned to Division Two this year after winning their regional Third Division and navigating the play-offs.

RS Tallinding edged Unique Global FC 2-1, maintaining their strong form despite failing to secure promotion to Division One at last season’s play-offs.

In Soma, Suwo Kono FC marked their first match under coach Sheriff Jallow with a 1-0 win over relegated Gambia Armed Forces (GAF).

The GFF Division Two remains one of the country’s most competitive leagues, with teams battling for top-five positions to qualify for the Division One promotion play-offs.
