Irregular Migration Surveillance:NBR Border Patrol Unit Intercepts 19 undocumented migrants

The North Bank Region (NBR) Border Patrol Unit, during a routine surveillance at the Barra crossing point, today, 16th March 2026, intercepted nineteen (19) undocumented migrants as part of ongoing efforts to deter clandestine irregular migration.

The operation began with a document verification exercise involving two female migrants who were unable to provide proof of documentation, claiming to have left their legal identity documents at their residence. A subsequent spot check at their residence, Pateh’s Lodge, led to the discovery of nineteen undocumented suspected would-be migrants residing at the lodge.

All intercepted individuals were immediately escorted to the Barra Immigration Station, where they are currently undergoing processing and removal procedures in line with established immigration protocols.

The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) reaffirms its commitment to promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration while safeguarding lives and livelihoods.
