Empowering rural communities:Beakanyang inaugurates solar-powered welding house in Nyakoi Taibatou.

Yesterday,Beakanyang inaugurated its newly constructed solar-powered welding house in Nyakoi Taibatou, Wuli West District of Upper River Region.
The welding house is part of their project ducked: Promoting Energy Efficient Cooking Stoves and Renewable Energy use in URR Project.

“In our 2025-2030 strategic plan, Beakanyang intends to build 4 multi-functional platforms across URR using clean energy. We therefore need the continued support of partners such as UNDP towards the realization of our strategic objectives,” says Mr. Nfamara Jawno Jawneh, Executive Director of Beakanyang.

The project is funded by UNDP through its Climate Promise Fund.

“We are proud and appreciative of the immense contributions of Beakanyang to the socio-economic development of our community. We must take this facility seriously to ensure its sustainability,” says Mawdo Sisawo, Sutukonding ward councilor.

The inauguration was attended by officials from UNDP, ward councilor of Sutukonding, NGO Affairs Agency, representative of Tango, project beneficiaries and community members.

“Beakanyang will continue to empower women and youth especially in rural areas in address the numerous environmental challenges they facing. Together with communities we are making life changing impacts on the lives of vulnerable people,” says Board Member Mr.Fanding Barrow.
