DG Mboob Pays Extends Condolence to Chief of Defence Staff

 

On 8th April 2025, the Director General of Immigration, Ebrima Mboob, accompanied by Senior Immigration Officers, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces at the Defence Headquarters in Banjul to extend condolences on the tragic loss of Navy Sailor Richard Mendy.

 

In the spirit of service and solidarity, DG Mboob conveyed the heartfelt sympathies of the GID following the untimely passing of sailor Mendy, who died in active duty as a result of the inferno that occurred at the Navy Base in Banjul, and offered prayers to the injured officer admitted at the hospital.

 

The delegation was received by Major General Ousman Gomez, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff. During the visit, the Director General emphasised the cordial relationship between the GID and GAF, particularly in the collaborative efforts to combat irregular migration.

 

Major General Ousman Gomez, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, expressed gratitude to the GID leadership for the thoughtful gesture and commended the enduring camaraderie between the two institutions.

 

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing and strengthening the inter-agency cooperation between the GID and GAF.
