In the wake of the Gambia’s Land Policy Validation, the Office of the Executive Coordinator, Banjul, was presented by a high-powered delegation at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo on Tuesday.
The Executive Coordinator,Honourable Ebrima Jawo who headed the delegation, contributed immensely to discussions and emphasized the importance of the National Land Policy in addressing key national concerns such as flooding,agricultural development and Land zoning.He pointed out that the policy would play a pivotal role in guiding sustainable urban development and environmental management.
He further stressed the urgent need to grant the government first refusal rights in land sales within,noting a growing trend where family homes are being sold without a full understanding of their freehold status.
Honourable Jawo said such measures would help preserve valuable property and promote equitable land use,planning in Banjul.

The event served as a platform to collect final feedback and consensus on the draft policy, setting the stage for its adoption and implementation. Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the land policy reflects the needs of all Gambians and promotes inclusive and sustainable development.
The forum brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including government officials, civil society actors, and representatives from local communities.
The event was presided by the honourable minister of Lands Hamat NK Bah and attended by officials from the Ministry of Lands and Religious Affairs, alongside various representatives from Banjul and other regions.
