Addressing irregular migration menace:NBR Command receives joint security task force

 

The Regional Command of the North Bank Region (NBR) has today, Friday, January 9, 2026, received reinforcement from Banjul as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations and address irregular migration within the region.

The reinforcement consists of a Joint Security Task Force drawn from the Gambia Police Force, Gambia Immigration Department, State Intelligence Services, Gambia Armed Forces, Gambia Navy, and the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services.

The deployment is intended to reinforce existing operations, enhance inter-agency coordination, and strengthen surveillance across identified land and maritime corridors. Commanders emphasized that the reinforcement supports ongoing efforts on the ground, with a focus on intelligence-led operations, public safety, and respect for human rights.

The Gambia Police Force reassures the public that security operations in the region remain active, coordinated, and people-centred, with continued collaboration among sister security services to protect lives and maintain public order.
