Works Minister Sillah orders for the speedy completion of delayed Banni-Salikenni road

The Minister of Works, Infrastructure and Transportation, Ebrima Sillah, together with the Managing Director of the National Road Authority (NRA), delivered a blunt message during their inspection of the Banni–Salikenni road project.

The 16.2-kilometre stretch, currently under construction, has fallen far behind schedule. The officials made it clear they were dissatisfied with the pace of progress, urging the contractor to accelerate the work without compromising on quality or standards.

The contractor, however, attributed the delays to difficulties in sourcing essential materials such as basalt from Senegal. Despite this explanation, Minister Sillah and the NRA Managing Director insisted that the project must be completed promptly, stressing that it should have been finished last year.

Their firm stance underscores government’s growing frustration with stalled infrastructure projects, as communities continue to wait for roads that are vital for transport, trade, and daily life.
