Veteran court reporter Bruce Asemota dies

The Gambian media fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of veteran journalist Bruce Asemota, a High Court reporter with The Standard Newspaper.

The respected journalist, who made his name as one of the country’s finest court reporters, passed away earlier today. Burial arrangements are yet to be announced.

Colleagues and friends described Asemota as a “remarkable journalist” whose reports were known for their accuracy and depth.

“He was an all-round journalist, but the courts were his true stage,” one tribute read.

“He gained fame by producing reports that were not only precise but trusted across the profession.”

Asemota worked for several newspapers during his career and built a reputation for honesty and professionalism.

One of his long-time friends, Pa Amady Jallow who once served as Police Spokesman, said: “I lost a personal friend of many years, who trusted me with his work. His passing is a huge blow to journalism in this country.”

The Standard Newspaper, his family, and the wider media community are said to be devastated by the news.

Messages of condolence continue to pour in as colleagues remember a man they say gave his life to the craft of journalism.
