UDP Appoints Saikou Camara as New Secretary of Media and Communication

 

The United Democratic Party (UDP) has elected Saikou Camara as its new Secretary of Media and Communication, succeeding Tombong Saidy, who recently joined the United Movement for Change (UMC).

According to his public profile, Saikou Camara is an international motivational speaker, author, and storyteller who views storytelling as both an African cultural legacy and a powerful art form that connects people to their history, shapes their present, and guides their future.

He has presented at major global venues, including the White House, the United Nations, De Montfort University in the United Kingdom, Virginia Tech, RightsCon in Brussels, the University of The Gambia, and the Omaha YP Summit. His published works include Testimony of an African Immigrant, Relentless Audacity, Africa Through a Mirror, Hustle Like an Immigrant, and a children’s book titled Baba and the Toy Bandit – Kindness.

Camara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Rust College and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Jackson State University. With more than 15 years of experience in technology and project management, he currently serves as Head of Business Development for IKOS – Western Region in the United States.

He is also the founder and president of Your Change for a Change (YCFaC), a nonprofit organisation registered in five countries, and president of People Making a Difference (PMaD). In addition, he co-founded the Global Leadership Empowerment and Diversity Summit (GLEADS) and sits on the board of the Simple Foundation.

Camara’s contributions to service and leadership have earned him several accolades, including the Superior Community Service Award (2014), Citizen of the Year (2015–2016), recognition among the 100 Most Influential Young Africans (2019–2020), and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the UNESCO Center for Peace.

He describes himself as being driven by service, resilience, and purpose, with a commitment to inspiring others to see opportunities where others perceive limitations and to contribute to building a better world through effective leadership.
