One Seedy Faal Monday appeared before Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a charge of attempting to commit a felony, following allegations that he tried to steal sheep in Tanji, West Coast Region.
Faal appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou on a single count contrary to Section 338 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025. Cadet Inspector Sulayman Manneh represented the Inspector General of Police, while the accused did not have legal representation.
According to the charged sheet, Faal allegedly attempted to steal a sheep belonging to Lamin Jammeh on 8 December 2025 in Tanji, with intent to commit a felony. The prosecution told the court that the act amounted to an attempt to commit a felony under the law.
The charge was read and explained to the accused in a language he said he understood, after which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor requested an adjournment to enable the prosecution to secure its witnesses and indicated no objection to the accused being granted bail.
Magistrate Sambou granted the request, adjourning the case to 29th January, 2026 for hearing. Faal was granted bail in the sum of D20,000.00 with one Gambian surety. The court ordered that the surety deposit a valid Gambian identification card with the registrar and depose to means.
