In a recent political meeting held in Bodel village, Jarra East, Hon. Dou Sannoh of the National People’s Party (NPP) launched a scathing attack on Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) leader Mama Kandeh, accusing him of spreading false promises and deceiving the local population. The event, attended by prominent figures including Hon. Demba Sabally, Minister of Agriculture, and Hon. Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Works, Transport, and Communication, served as a platform to clarify the NPP government’s commitment to the development of the region.

Hon. Dou Sannoh did not mince words as he addressed the crowd, calling out Mama Kandeh for what he described as “fake news and deception.” Sannoh criticized Kandeh’s recent visit to Sareh Bodel, claiming that the GDC leader’s promises of bringing electricity to the village were baseless and intended solely to mislead the villagers.

“Mama Kandeh has no power to influence any government officer to do what he requested,” Dou Sannoh asserted, emphasizing that the responsibility of providing electricity lies solely with the government, under the leadership of President Adama Barrow. He further explained that a clerical error had led to some villages, including Bodel, being temporarily omitted from the electricity expansion project. However, this issue is being rectified following direct instructions from President Barrow to NAWEC.

Dou Sannoh accused Mama Kandeh of attempting to exploit this error for political gain, falsely claiming that he was responsible for bringing electricity to the village. He reassured the villagers that the government is fully committed to enhancing infrastructure and agriculture in the region, with ongoing plans to improve roads and electricity access under the leadership of President Barrow.

The meeting also saw the Ministers of Agriculture and Works, Transport, and Communication listening to the concerns of the villagers regarding agricultural support and road infrastructure. Dou Sannoh reaffirmed the government’s dedication to addressing these needs, urging the community to continue supporting President Barrow’s administration for the sustained development of Jarra East and beyond.

In conclusion, Hon. Dou Sannoh’s powerful message underscored the NPP’s commitment to truth and transparency, as well as its determination to expose and counteract any attempts to deceive the Gambian people with false promises.
