The Gambia government receives significant $37.5 million from Islamic Development Bank for the development of School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (SMASH) at UTG-Faraba Banta Campus.
The announcement has been made by the Ministry of Higher Education Research, Science and Technology on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the project is also jointly financed by Child Fund and the government of The Gambia.
The project’s components include the expansion of health academic infrastructure, provision of medical and laboratory equipment and ICT infrastructure and supervision of works and equipment implementation among others.
The construction of School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences will include the department of public and environmental health, department of nursing, department of Medicine, department of pharmacy, department of allied Health sciences.
It will also include the provision of advanced medical and laboratory equipment, ICT infrastructure for e-learning.
