GDC Postpones Rally Following Death of Advisory Board Member Amat Faal

The opposition Gambia Democratic Congress has postponed its planned mega rally in Talinding following the death of Amat Faal, a member of the party’s advisory board.

In a statement obtained by The Fatu Network, GDC Administrative Secretary Ebrima Nyang said the rally scheduled for December 13th has been postponed as the party mourns the loss of Mr Faal. The event is now expected to take place on January 3rd 2026.

“The postponement of the political rally is a result of the passing of Amat Faal who was a pillar in the GDC,” Nyang said. “We will forever cherish the memories of his positive qualities and nature.”

The party said it will always remember the late Amat Faal’s unwavering support for the growth of the GDC. “He is no longer with us but his legacy of love and kindness will remain in our hearts forever,” Nyang stated.

He extended sympathy to the family of Mr Faal, noting that the party is deeply saddened by the loss. “We are very much grateful for the time you spent with us, the lessons shared, the sacrifice, and the energy invested towards the development of the party,” he added.

The GDC described the late Mr Faal as a devoted Muslim with a gentle and caring soul whose warmth touched everyone around him.
