Canadian contest sparked outrage from scores of frustrated runners online and in Canadian media

The organisers of the Edmonton Marathon have admitted the course was more than half a kilometre too long, after outrage from scores of runners who complained about the distance.

The error resulted in the upending of runners’ personal bests and potentially prevented some from breaking records.
