As part of his nationwide familiarisation tour, the Director General of Immigration, Ebrima Mboob, and his delegation were warmly received in Barra by Commissioner Mustapha Senghore and other sister services.
The visit commenced with an operational briefing delivered by ASI PA Malick Gibba, Area Commander and OiC of NBR Border Patrol Unit who outlined the activities of the Barra Border Patrol Unit, highlighting key successes and challenges impacting the effective execution of its mandate.
In response, DG Mboob commended the steadfastness of officers in Barra, acknowledging their commitment and the strong inter-agency collaboration with other security services. He urged officers to intensify border control efforts to safeguard national security.
Supporting these remarks, ADG Lamin Daffeh of the Processing Pillar encouraged officers to cultivate a spirit of camaraderie among security personnel, thus enhancing their operational capacity. He reiterated the GID leadership’s commitment to institutional integrity, good governance, and tackling corrupt practices. Additionally, he reminded officers to exercise vigilance in documentation processes and be mindful of the growing challenges of document fraud.
Following the briefing, DG Mboob held a closed discussion with the Chief of Lower Niumi, George Sonko. The Chief reaffirmed his community’s continuous support to immigration authorities, while DG Mboob emphasized the critical role of local authorities, such as Chiefs and Alkalos, in attestation processes and documentation procedures. He urged them to exercise due diligence to ensure the integrity of immigration services.
