‎The court had, on February 3rd 2026, warned that a bench warrant applied by the prosecution to arrest accused persons for failing to appear before the court may be considered should they fail to appear before the court today, Wednesday 11th February 2026. The case failed to proceed today as the court said it is yet to assign the case to another Magistrate.

Magistrate Thomas Faud Touray, who was handling the case, passed away during the weekend.

‎The 23 youths were arrested in the month of August last year and charged with unlawful assembly after they protested against the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority’s (PURA) controversial decision of imposing a price floor on mobile data.
