By: Isatou Sarr

A young man from Brikama Nyambai, Yankuba Njie, appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of Brikama Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening to kill his father on Wednesday.

Njie appeared on a single count of threatening violence, contrary to Section 77 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025. Police prosecutor CPL 6397 A. Bah represented the Inspector General of Police, while the accused stood in the dock without legal representation.

According to the charge sheet, Njie is accused of threatening to kill his father, Ebrima Njie, on 16 November 2025 at their family residence in Brikama Nyambai in the West Coast Region. The prosecution alleges that the threat was made with the intent to intimidate or annoy.

Meanwhile, when the charge was read out to the accused in an open court, he pleaded not guilty.

Following the plea, Prosecutor Bah applied for an adjournment to allow the state to bring its witnesses before the court. The magistrate granted the application.

Magistrate Sambou further ordered that the accused be remanded in custody, denying him bail. The case was adjourned to 24th December 2025 for the testimony of the first prosecution witness.

Njie, meanwhile, remains in remand pending the next hearing.
