Maahad Senior Secondary School received a special visit yesterday 7th March 2025, from Belgian athletics officials Sabine De Muynck and Walter Van Ballenberghe. The duo, who are actively involved in athletics development, presented sportswear to the school, strengthening the bond between Belgian athletics and The Gambia.
The initiative was first introduced by Salifu Jarju, CEO of the Gambia Athletics platform, before the couple met with former Maahad student and athlete Sulayman Touray, alias Zee, in Belgium. Inspired by his passion for giving back to his alma mater, Touray encouraged the officials to visit Maahad and support its athletics program.
This gesture highlights the growing international connections in Gambian athletics and the dedication of former athletes like Touray in fostering sports development back home.
