Beakanyang’s Executive Director Calls on Gambians to Fight for their Rights!

The Executive Director of Beakanyang ,Mr.Nfamara Jawneh has called on Gambians to fight for their rights and help in realizing the ‘Never Again’ mantra for the past gross human rights violations.
Beakanyang’s  Executive Director made the remarks in various communities across the North Bank, Central and Upper River Regions during engagements organized by the Gambia Center of Victims of Human Rights Violations.
“The gross human rights violations that took place in this country from 1994-2016 were committed by our own Gambian brothers and sisters. Prior to the coming of TRRC many people had the belief that these violations were committed mainly by non Gambians,” he said.
He called on Gambians to take ownership of the Transitional Justice processes to ensure that our security sector is well reformed and the rule of law prevail.
“We must hold our elected and appointed officials accountable and report human rights violations to the National Human Rights Commission for redress,” he advised.
