Attack on forex bureaus:Owners call for government’s support in enhancing security

The president of the Association of Licensed Forex Bureaus has called on the government to strengthen security for forex bureaus across The Gambia, citing growing safety concerns facing traders and staff.

Momodou Jallow made the appeal following the recent killing of a forex trader in Brusubi and what he described as a rise in violent crimes targeting bureau operators.

He said the association has engaged its regulator, the Central Bank of The Gambia, to discuss security challenges confronting the sector.

“We have discussed this with our regulator. We are willing to do our part, but there are measures that require the support of stakeholders and government,” Jallow said in an interview with West Coast Radio.
