The National Executive Committee of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), led by Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has called for an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation into the management and sale of assets belonging to former President Yahya Jammeh.
In a strongly worded statement, the APRC expressed solidarity with Gambians demanding accountability, raising concerns over reports of undervalued asset sales to connected individuals. The party criticized the Ministry of Justice for withholding details on asset recovery, management, and disposal processes, which it argued undermined due process.
The APRC also questioned the secrecy surrounding payments to selected victims identified by the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC). The party noted that millions of dalasis were disbursed through the Victims’ Center before the TRRC concluded its findings, yet the recipients and amounts remain undisclosed despite repeated calls for transparency.
Since the Janneh Commission’s establishment in 2017, the APRC claimed it has advocated for a fair and lawful process, warning against selective retribution and concealed transactions. The party now urges the government to act swiftly to address these issues, warning that inaction risks deepening public mistrust.
“The pursuit of justice and accountability is a national concern,” the statement read, signed by Chairman and Party Leader Fabakary Tombong Jatta. The APRC reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice, and unity, pressing the government to promptly respond to citizens’ demands.
