Alliance with NPP:CA says partnership is based on shared values, mutual respect and national priorities..

Citizens Alliance (CA),under the leadership of Honorable Dr Ismaila Ceesay on Saturday held a press conference at the Paradise Hotel in Banjul, where party leaders outlined their position on key national issues, gave updates on internal party developments, and clarified the party’s position on alliance with the National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Addressing journalists, civil society representatives and party supporters, Honorable Dr Ismaila Ceesay said the press conference was convened to speak directly to Gambians on matters that affect their daily lives and the future of the country. He stressed that CA remains committed to promoting good governance, accountability and inclusive development, which he described as the core pillars of the party’s political philosophy.

On national issues, Honorable Dr Ismaila Ceesay adressed concern over the rising cost of living, unemployment, illegal Migration among young people and the pressure on our National Currency THE DALASI. He said these challenges are being addressed by practical, well-coordinated policy responses rather than political rhetoric. According to him, Citizens Alliance will continue to support the Government’s economic reforms that support small businesses, create jobs and improve the lives of vulnerable communities.

The party leader also used the occasion to brief the public on recent activities and development within the Party . He reported that the party has completed a series of internal consultations aimed at strengthening its structures at national and regional levels. These consultations, he said, were intended to ensure that the party remains democratic, transparent and responsive to its members.

A major focus of the press conference was the Party’s alliance with the National People’s Party. Citizens’ Alliance will support President Barrow in the 2026 Elections and will campaign for him to Win.

Honorable Dr Ismaila Ceesay explained that the partnership is based on shared values, mutual respect and national priorities, particularly stability, development and the consolidation of democratic gains. He said the alliance is not about abandoning principles but about working together to achieve outcomes that benefit the country.

“Our cooperation with the NPP is guided by the interests of The Gambia,” he said. “We believe that constructive engagement and strategic partnerships are necessary to move the nation forward.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, Honorable, Dr Ismaila Ceesay said Citizens Alliance is preparing to play a more active and organised role across the country. He noted that the party is expanding its grassroots presence, recruiting new members and developing policy proposals that will be presented to voters in support of President Barrow as a Candidate in the coming Elections.

He added that CA intends to campaign on a platform of integrity, competence and national unity, and called on Gambians, especially young people to support the Government in it’s quest to improve the lives of the Citizenry.
