The President of the Association of Clearing, Customs and Forwarding Agents (ACCFA) in The Gambia, Mr. Essa Wally, has been honoured with the Most Outstanding Personality Award in the Gambia Maritime Industry (GMI) by the All Walks of Life Gambia Chapter.
Mr. Wally, who has been elected twice as President of ACCFA, is also the first Gambian to serve as President of the Federation of ECOWAS Licensed Customs Brokers Association (FELCBA). He is the Managing Director of Inter-Estate Agents.
The award, presented last Friday, recognizes Mr. Wally’s long-standing contribution to the development of The Gambia’s maritime industry. He is widely regarded as a key figure in the sector, noted for his professionalism, dedication and commitment to service.
According to the organisers, the award followed a comprehensive assessment conducted by the All Walks of Life Gambia Chapter on Mr. Wally’s role and impact in the maritime industry over recent years. The assessment concluded that he ranks among the leading Gambians who have made significant contributions to the growth of the sector.
The All Walks of Life organisation brings together members across West Africa, with the aim of promoting networking and mutual support for development initiatives in the sub-region, particularly between The Gambia and Sierra Leone.
Mr. Wally was among several Gambians recognised for their contributions and selfless service to national development.
Receiving the award, Mr. Wally expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing the honour as special to him and his family. He said the recognition was the result of teamwork and collaboration, and dedicated the award to members of ACCFA in The Gambia and FELCBA.
He commended the organisers for what he described as a transparent and merit-based selection process, noting that the recognition had further strengthened his confidence in the association. Mr. Wally reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the organisation and praised Muhammed Jah Q-Group for its role as a major sponsor, calling on well-meaning Gambians to support the association.
