Praizy admonishes fellow artists to embrace the Women’s Agenda.

 

Praizy Jallow, a Brikama-born Gambia Artist encourages fellow artists to champion issues of women as males continue to dominate in all spheres of livelihood activities.

The renowned artist underscored the essential role played by women in leadership in an interview with New Global Media.
There are lots of works being done by Women, especially in the economy.”

“Women are at the market to sustain their families, others at the farm and marketing gardening. These issues should be echoed in our songs to give them a voice. Whatever men can do, women can do as well.”
He added that through such promotions, women’s narratives could be elevated.

He added that women have a lot of capacities and talents within themselves but traditional norms and values continue to hinder their effective participation in leadership responsibilities and showcasing their potential.

“The more we highlight their activities in our songs, the more we will encourage them. We the artist must recognize them. There are more important things about women’s activities to sing about than composing indecent music.”

He added that many religious and traditional barriers continue to hinder the full participation of women in development.
