Executive members of the Association of health journalists The Gambia AoHJ today paid a courtesy-call on the officials of the Expanded Programme on Immunization under the ministry of health. The visit is part of AoHJ new executive quest to reconnect to it’s key partners. The interface availed both parties the opportunity to discuss on future areas of collaboration, most especially awareness creation on EPI services. The program manager of EPI Sidat Fofona described the role of the health journalists as fundamental in rasing awareness of the population for behaviour change. Mr Fofona hailed the team for the foresight to visit, it wlll help cement the already cordial relationship that exists between EPI and AoHJ. Sally Jarju President of the association of health journalists The Gambia expressed gratitude to EPI officials for the warm reception accorded to her team. The visit she stated is not just to introduce the new executive of AoHJ, but also solicit for training opportunities for the members. She reaffirmed the commitment of AoHJ members in complimenting ministry of health’s efforts in health awareness raising.
Mbye Njie deputy program manager of EPI in his welcome remarks extolled the long outstanding partnership between EPI and AoHJ, which he added has contributed immensely in the promotion of EPI services across the country. He assured members of AoHJ of their resolve to nurture the partnership for the realisation of a common desired goal. Whilst encouraging them to keep up the good work
