Gambia & Senegalese Ministers Engage in Closed-Door Meeting on Border Crisis

Various Ministers from Gambia And Senegal are currently engaged in a close door meeticlose-dooress the ongoing border crisis between the two nations.
Prior to the close door meeting, Cherno Omar Barry, Chairman of Senegalo- Gambia in his opening remarks welcomed the guest from Senegal including the Minister of transport and Minister of Commerce amongst others
El Malick Ndiaye, Minister of Infrastructure and Land Transport and Aerial; highlighted that delegates were sent from the Gambia to Senegal to discuss these crisis for the first time in which a lot of things were discovered which led to this second meeting which he hopes would end well.
He expressed how he is hopeful that the issue would go back to normal to the point that they would all be able to engage in other relevant issues. Adding that the Gambia and Senegal are both one country with the same people.
Ebrima Sillah, the Minister of Transport expressed how hopeful he is that before
the end of the meeting a lot of issues would be settled. Adding both counties are one and nothing should come between them.
He further marked the day as a historic one between the two countries which would lead to real integration as the Gambia is fully committed to settling this border crisis between both countries.
Serigne Gueye Diop, Minister of Industry and Commerce mentioned how a month ago they met in Saly, Senegal where there was an agreement between Gambia and Senegal in terms of trade, business and industry. Adding how both countries can engage in industrial zones to work on.
Minister Diop stated that gambia and Senegal cannot go without the other hence the discussion is meant for things to go back to normal so that they can concentrate on important issues such as children, transport, industry as well as job opportunities in order to deter the youth from taking the back way to Europe.
Baboucarr O Joof, Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, mentioned that tension at the border should be settled today as it is not just affecting truck owners at the border but others as well.
The meeting will focus on the current border situation between Senegal and The Gambia, in a bid to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
