On July 11, 2026, the Kotu Anti-Crime Unit swiftly responded to a reported assault at City Pub in Dippa Kunda. Two suspects were promptly arrested and investigations were launched.
Upon arrival, officers secured the area and collected evidence, including a broken bottle that is believed to have been used in the incident. The victim, who sustained injuries, had already been treated and released from the hospital. Another injured person was also treated and discharged.
Preliminary findings suggest that the altercation between the parties escalated into violence, allegedly involving a broken bottle. Statements were taken from the victim, suspects, and a witness to aid in the investigation.
The two suspects have been charged with Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm, while further investigations are ongoing.
The Gambia Police Force urges the public to settle disputes peacefully and within the bounds of the law. They also warn that any acts of violence, particularly those involving dangerous objects, will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
