Gambia Immigration Intercepts Over 120 Would-Be Migrants in Two Operations.

 

Personnel of the Gambia Immigration Department intercepted a total of 128 would be migrants in two separate operations conducted on April 5 and 6, 2026.

On Monday, officers at the Mandinaba Immigration Station stopped 59 migrants at a checkpoint. The group included seven Gambians, 13 Senegalese, 31 Malians, six Ivorians, one Sierra Leonean and one Nigerian, among them six females and one minor.

In a separate operation on Sunday, the Tanji Border Patrol Unit, working with the Kartong Immigration Office, intercepted 69 non Gambian migrants in Sinchu Sorie. The group consisted of 60 Malians, two Senegalese, six Guineans and one Ivorian, including 10 females and 13 minors. Three suspected organisers, all Malians, were arrested.

All migrants have been transported to Tanji for further investigation and processing
