The Government of The Gambia has expressed concern over the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
In a press release issued on February 28, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, pursue dialogue, and resolve differences through diplomacy in line with international law. The government stressed the need to protect civilian lives and critical infrastructure, warning that continued instability could threaten regional and global peace, security, and economic stability.
Gambian nationals residing in or travelling to affected areas have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid areas of military activity and large gatherings, monitor official advisories, and defer non-essential travel. Citizens are also encouraged to stay in contact with the nearest Gambian diplomatic mission.
The government reaffirmed that the safety and welfare of Gambians at home and abroad remain a top priority.
