A seven-month-old baby abducted during a journey from Barra to Banjul has been safely rescued after swift action by the Police, leading to the arrest of a teenage suspect.
The incident happened on Sunday, January 25, when the child’s mother was travelling to Banjul in a commercial vehicle. During the journey, she briefly stepped away and entrusted her baby to a fellow female passenger.
Moments later, she returned to find both the passenger and her infant missing, triggering panic and an immediate report to the Banjul Police Station.
Police launched a rapid search operation, activating alerts and coordinating follow-ups across communities.
Less than 24 hours later, on Monday, January 26, officers traced the suspect to Ebo Town, where a 17-year-old girl was arrested in possession of the missing child.
