The United Democtratic Party have provided “context” regarding the Sunday released photographs and its accompanying statement by the party following public critiques.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the intention of the accompanying statement was not to direct, influence, or interfere with the editorial independence of the media, nor to prescribe what should be reported or how stories should be framed. The photographs were shared strictly in response to media requests and solely for the purpose of supporting accurate and professional reporting.
The party said it made the decision after members of the Gambian media fraternity requested official photographs of its party’s National Executive members for use in their reporting.
”The UDP Media and Communications Team has records to substantiate these requests.”
”We value and respect the role of the media in a democratic society and remain committed to maintaining open, transparent, and respectful engagement with all media stakeholders.”
