The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) has announced that the anticipated homecoming of former President Yahya AJJ Jammeh has been put off.
According to the faction of APRC still loyal to the former president, Jammeh’s homecoming, initially scheduled for November, has been postponed due to unfinished logistical arrangements.
The announcement was made by the party’s Media and Communications Director, Sadibou Badjie, on behalf of the 1st Deputy Party Leader, Momodou Yafaye Tamba, and the National Executive of the APRC. In the statement, party leaders urged supporters and loyalists to continue preparing for Jammeh’s return, emphasizing that the visit remains imminent once all logistical requirements are finalized.
“While the date has been delayed, all preparations towards welcoming our leader should continue in earnest,” the statement read. “The exact date of his return will be communicated as soon as arrangements are completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause.”
The APRC reaffirmed its support for Jammeh, describing him as a “hero” and expressing hope that Allah continues to guide and protect him. Party officials also called on militants and Gambians of goodwill to remain patient and steadfast in anticipation of the former president’s return.
This announcement comes amid on-going speculation about Jammeh’s intentions and the political implications of his eventual homecoming. The APRC has consistently maintained that his return is a key moment for the party and its supporters, and the current delay underscores the need for careful planning and coordination.
While no new date has been provided, the party’s leadership reassures the public that Jammeh’s return is still expected in the near future. The postponement highlights the logistical and organizational challenges involved in orchestrating the former president’s homecoming, which has attracted significant national and regional attention.
Supporters have been urged to maintain calm, remain engaged in party activities, and continue preparations for the eventual welcoming ceremony, ensuring that Jammeh’s return is conducted smoothly and safely.
