On 25 November 2025, the EU and the government have launched a five-year project to develop the access to quality secondary education. The new project will focus in particular on girls, students with disabilities, and marginalized communities.
The launch event during which the agreement was signed brought together Finance Minister Seedy S. Keita, Basic & Secondary Education Minister Dr. Habibatou Drammeh and Higher Education Minister Prof. Pierre Gomez as well as representatives from the diplomatic corps.
At this occasion, EU Ambassador Roca i Cortés stated: “Education is the foundation of youth empowerment and the development of any country.”
What the €20M (D1.7B) project will support:
🔹 Improving senior secondary school quality and completion rates
🔹 Expanding opportunities for girls and students from low-income families
🔹 Strengthening support for learners with disabilities
🔹 Reducing gender and socio-economic gaps in education
🔹 Building a more inclusive and equitable education system
