A new twist has emerged in the death of 23-year-old Nogaye Thiam, the young mother found dead in her room in Yoff, a coastal neighbourhood in Dakar. According to multiple local reports citing Les Échos, her 18-month-old son is believed to have remained beside her body for nearly two days, at times trying to breastfeed, before the tragedy was discovered.
Speaking to Les Échos, her father, Samba Thiam, said he had never approved of her marriage to Elimane Diao, explaining that Nogaye had first been engaged to his brother, Lamine, who continued to pursue her even after she married Elimane.
He described a household filled with tension, pressure from her in-laws and repeated mistreatment, saying his daughter lived “a nightmare” and suffered multiple miscarriages before her death.
These revelations deepen the questions surrounding the case as Senegalese police continue investigating how her death went unnoticed for 48 hours inside the family home where both her husband and mother-in-law lived.
