In response to the annual reminder from the Christian Council, the Banjul City Council, in its enduring spirit of partnership and community service, coordinated a comprehensive cleansing and clearing exercise at the Banjul Cemetery over the weekend.

The Council reached out to the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) for support, and in a remarkable display of national solidarity, 400 personnel from various barracks were deployed on each of the days. The operation commenced on Saturday and successfully concluded today (Sunday) covering extensive grass cutting, waste removal, and general site restoration.

Throughout the exercise, the Banjul City Council provided all logistics and necessary support, ensuring smooth coordination and efficiency from start to finish.

This annual collaboration underscores our shared responsibility to preserve the sanctity of our cityโ€™s resting grounds honoring those who came before us while upholding the cleanliness and dignity of Banjul.

The Council extends sincere appreciation to the Christian Council, the Gambia Armed Forces, and all individuals who contributed to this noble cause. Together, we continue to build a city that respects its past, serves its people, and prepares for a cleaner, brighter future.
