MUSIGAM Charts Path for Stronger Music Industry Through Policy Recommendations

The Musicians’ Union of The Gambia (MUSIGAM) has used the 2nd edition of the Gambia Music Convergence held at the Alliance Francise , to advocate for stronger policies and structured frameworks to support the country’s music industry.

The event gathered musicians, producers, industry stakeholders, and government officials to discuss policies aimed at strengthening the Gambian music sector.

Key issues raised included copyright protection, fair royalty collection, and structured contracts to ensure musicians are properly compensated for their work.

Government representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture attended the convergence and pledged to collaborate with MUSIGAM to implement recommendations designed to improve industry standards and protect artists’ rights.

The event concluded with a set of actionable recommendations, highlighting transparency, professional development, and stronger collaboration between the government and music stakeholders.
